Throttling Policy
Throttling policies are preconfigured rules which can be used to limit backup/restore transmission speed of the backup modules.
Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports setup global throttling policy rules for users to use when creating new backup/restore jobs, or can be also applied to existing jobs.
To setup a throttling policy, go to Resources > Throttling Policy, click on Add button to add a new rule.
Simply give the new rule a name for identification, and select the schedules from daily, weekly, monthly, permanent and custom basis, then setup the max transmission speed allowed and the start and end time, after that click on Add button to add a policy. In one rule, users are allowed to add multiple policies.
Once completed adding a new throttling policy, when creating a new backup/restore job, users are able to select the global throttling policy.
Users can also assign the throttling policy to an existing backup job (job must not be active), by simply select the throttling policy and click on Assign Policy button, you well see the existing jobs which are available for assigning the policy.
When assigning the throttling policy to jobs, you can also select a Job Level from Low, Medium or High. So, if multiple jobs share the same throttling policy, and if these jobs will run at the same time window, the higher the job level is, the more resources will be allocated to that job for processing.
As for the job level, it's the same when creating a new backup/restore job as assigning throttling policy to existing jobs.
