Backup Policy

Backup Policy for backup jobs can be pre-configured from Resources > Backup Resource > Backup Policy page. When users creating new backup jobs, the strategy templates can be used to reduce the work of setting up various common settings.

Step 1. Add Template

Click on the Create button to add a new backup policy.

In the Template Name field, you can define a name for this template, and in the Comments field you can optionally add some descriptions of this template.

For Template Type, you can select for which backup module this template will be created.

Step 2. Configure Policy

Time Schedule

Once enabled, set the backup start time and whether to run the backup on a rolling basis. Under “Backup Method,” you can choose between policy-based backup, one-time backup, and manual initiation.

Full Backup: This will back up all data from the backup source. Once complete, the backup data becomes a full backup point in time, capturing all data.

Full Backup Compensatio: At the scheduled trigger time for a full backup, if another backup mode (such as incremental or differential backup) is currently running, the system will wait for the current job to complete and then immediately initiate a compensatory full backup.

Incremental Backup: This backs up source data based on the previous backup, relying on the previous full backup point or incremental backup point, and only backs up the data that has changed since the last backup was completed.

Differential Backup: This backs up source data based on the previous full backup, relying on the previous full backup point, and only backs up the data that has changed since the last full backup was completed.

Forever Incremental: During backup jobs, only a single full backup is required, with subsequent backups being incremental. This reduces the frequency of full backups and conserves backup storage space and bandwidth resources.

you can also assign backup policy to jobs, select the backup policy you want to assign and Click on the Assign button, jobs in stop status will be displayed in the field, you can assign the backup policy to those jobs.
